The Solar Body Panel

Our innovative manufacturing process enables the seamless integration of solar cells into the body of the Sion or other surfaces. In combination with the viSono system integration, we are creating an innovative charging solution. This enables the Sion to generate an additional range of up to 5,800 kilometers per year – using only solar energy. Completely free of emissions and free of charge.

Adaptive Technology

Solar instead of paint. The exterior of the Sion is entirely covered in Solar Body Panels. In the course of a completely new manufacturing process, the solar modules are perfectly adapted to the shape of the vehicle. An innovation that can be used in many different ways, that breaks previous boundaries and opens up completely new application possibilities.

New Design Standard

We are setting a new design standard for solar integration. The solar cells are seamlessly integrated into the body panels. Almost invisible. Matching high aesthetic standards. Without any compromise on efficiency.

Effective Lightweight

Unlike other solar modules, the cells of the Solar Body Panel are embedded in polymer rather than glass. This makes them at least 20 % lighter than comparable metal body parts.

viSono System Integration

All components of the viSono system interact with each other. The electronic architecture of the car is explicitly engineered for the integration of solar charging. A perfect symbiosis for maximum efficiency.

Polymer – Lightweight Bodyguard

Light and resistant. The polymer coating of the solar cells does not splinter. It is characterized by high resistance and protects the solar cells from all external influences. The material is light as a feather. In comparison, the Solar Body Panel is not only significantly lighter than conventional sheet metal components, but also lighter than comparable solutions for solar integration on vehicles.

Solar Range Prediction

An intelligent energy forecast model even allows for predictions about the solar range based on meteorological data and the location of your car. This means, that you can plan your next trip according to the sun. The Sion can produce enough solar energy for up to 34 kilometers of additional range per day (measured in Munich).
