Engineers on the ViPV Team (Sono Solar) are at the leading edge of next-generation Vehicle Integrated solar products. As an Injection Molding Engineer, you will support manufacturing revolutionary Solar products. The role requires strong fundamentals, a passion to push the boundaries of technology and the tenacity to make designs successful. Our design requirements challenge the limits of physical possibility, which requires you to be extremely detail-oriented in supporting the design engineers making smart tradeoffs.Does this sound like a challenge you feel suited to accept? Then please keep reading!The function of the Injection Molding Engineer at Sono Motors combines project management responsibilities with the technical support of all injection molding activities from tooling engineering to mold testing and evaluation. This comes with the following tasks: 
  • Review and analyze engineered plastic parts and work on continuous  improvements
  • Review developed and executed procedures to evaluate the part quality and dimensional capabilities, mold conditions & tolerance analysis
  • Develop and design engineered plastic parts, insert molded parts and assemblies
  • Analyze Moldflow simulations, finite element analysis, and stress/fatigue analysis on plastics
  • Perform quality control on plastic parts and Create reports and verifications


  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Polymer/Plastic Engineering, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering (or similar) is required
  • 3+ years injection molding engineering/manufacturing experience
  • Sound knowledge of polymer materials, production, and processing technologies for plastic structures
  • Experience using DOE (Minitab) and other statistical tools for problem-solving
  • Good knowledge of injection molds (tool manufacture and processing)
  • Good knowledge in 3D-CAD tools like CATIA V5, Creo, NX
  • Experience with IML injection Molding is a plus
  • You have a natural hands-on mentality and able to utilize a logic driven problem-solving methodology when it comes to any challenge
  • Flexibility and pro-activity are your strong suites and thus have a “can do” attitude
  • You are passionate about autonomy at the workplace and a real team player
  • Fluent in English is a must -  fluent in German a plus
